-

Romelia Solano is a Ph.D. Candidate in Political Science at the University of Notre Dame. Her research and teaching focus on the intersection of race and public policy. Her empirical strategy leverages interviews with formerly detained immigrants and their networks, large-n survey data, and administrative crime reporting data, and causal inference techniques to develop and test a theory of individual and group responses to traumatic experiences with the repressive face of government.

Ilana is a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science where she is also a doctoral affiliate of the Kellogg Institute for International Studies, the Klau Center for Civil and Human Rights, and the Notre Dame International Security Center. Her research and teaching interests include post-conflict reconstruction, political violence, international organizations, international/comparative law, and constitutional design.
