PhD Alums

Abigail Mancinelli (PhD 2023) is a senior consultant in the state and local government practice at Guidehouse. Her research centers on the relationship between campaign finance regulations and representation. Specifically, her dissertation explores the representational impacts of public financing in state legislatures. In her most recent article, “Does Public Financing Motivate Electoral Challengers?”, she finds that providing public funds to candidates leads to greater competition in state legislative elections.

Alejandra Campos (PhD 2023) is the Diane D. Blair Assistant Professor of Latino Politics at the University of Arkansas. She is interested in electoral legislation and its effects on matters of representation. Her research focused on how the costs of voting impact voters, the pool of legislative candidates, and future electoral legislation.
